His Highness Sheikh Saud is the architect of Ras Al Khaimah’s bold and ambitious vision for the Emirate’s future, which emphasizes the need for a happy, cohesive society; sustainable development; and a prosperous, diversified economy. This comprehensive strategy addresses all aspects of life in the Emirate, ensuring that all segments of society feel engaged, empowered and inspired to ensure a high quality of life for their families in Ras Al Khaimah. It also lays a strong foundation for investment and entrepreneurship to flourish within an open and future-focused business ecosystem that is supported by robust government institutions and an independent judicial system. At its core, Vision 2030 enshrines environmental protection and sustainability, guiding all decisions to ensure growth remains in harmony with Ras Al Khaimah’s natural environment.
Ras Al Khaimah Integrated Sustainability Strategy 2050
The Ras Al Khaimah Integrated Sustainability Strategy 2050 was initiated by His Highness Sheikh Saud in 2024 to help shape a sustainable future, with its launch marking a new chapter in the Emirate’s commitment to a greener future. Building upon the success of the Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040 and expanding its scope to deliver a more holistic approach, the Integrated Sustainability Strategy 2050 aligns with His Highness’ ambition to deliver an enhanced, comprehensive framework that drives the long-term sustainability of Ras Al Khaimah across key sectors, ensuring economic resilience, environmental protection and energy security, while positioning the Emirate as a model of sustainable growth for generations to come.
Key objectives of the Integrated Sustainability Strategy 2050 are to: maintain a secure and cost-competitive supply of energy and water to drive Ras Al Khaimah’s sustainable development; protect and enhance the environment to preserve Ras Al Khaimah’s unique natural heritage and support a high quality of life for the Emirate’s people; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to support the competitiveness of Ras Al Khaimah’s economy in a low-carbon global market.
Mobility Masterplan 2023-2030
Guided by His Highness Sheikh Saud’s vision, Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority developed the Emirate’s Mobility Masterplan 2023-2030 to establish a comprehensive transportation strategy that focuses on creating a modern, sustainable and efficient transport system while encouraging people to lead active lifestyles. The Mobility Masterplan, which supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, is already delivering tangible progress by driving a transition to sustainable electric bus and taxi fleets, increasing Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure across the Emirate, introducing e-scooters and electric bikes for public use and developing an extensive network of pedestrian and cycling tracks, paving the way for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future for Ras Al Khaimah.
Sustainable Tourism Destination Strategy
Guided by His Highness Sheikh Saud’s vision, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority adopted the Sustainable Tourism Destination Strategy in 2021 in an effort to position the Emirate as the regional leader in sustainable tourism. Anchored in a clear set of guiding principles and supported by robust stakeholder engagement and monitoring mechanisms, the strategy is driving progress in climate action, environmental governance and social impact, while supporting the Emirate’s broader tourism growth objectives. By nurturing a tourism sector that balances economic viability, environmental stewardship and social responsibility, Ras Al Khaimah is conserving its natural and cultural heritage, enriching the visitor experience through authenticity and purpose, and enhancing overall quality of life for its people.
